Abilio’s mission is to provide comprehensive resources to enhance the quality of life, foster independence, and promote inclusion for people with disabilities. Through our dedicated guidance and support, we aim to break down barriers and build a world where everyone has equal access to thrive.

provides the starting point and basic information for disability resources covering education, employment, accommodations, community access, recreation, independent living, medical needs, and mental health

creates an open line of communication for individuals to reach out and receive guidance on specific topics and additional support

fosters relationships to provide advice and support among individuals with disabilities and their families

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Caitlin Hynes is a dedicated member of the disability community with a background in psychology and rehabilitation counseling. Raised in Charlotte, NC, she moved to Tuscaloosa in 2011 to attend the University of Alabama for both her bachelor's and master's degrees. Since 2018, she has worked for the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, providing employment services and support for individuals with disabilities. â€‹She grew up playing wheelchair basketball, competing on national teams from 2007 to 2013 and winning two gold medals. From 2011 to 2016, she played for the University of Alabama Women's Wheelchair Basketball Team, winning the 2015 national championship.

Born with spina bifida, Caitlin has had firsthand experience navigating accessibility and inclusion challenges. Her personal and professional experiences drove her to create Abilio to ensure individuals with disabilities and their families are connected to the resources they need and to promote accessibility and inclusion in the community!
